Title:
This accession consists of two 16 mm film reels featuring two productions of Goldi Productions Ltd., "They Fish the Great Slave" and "Dene Family". "They Fish the Great Slave" was produced by Arctic Films and John Goldi, directed by John Goldi, and narrated by Mick Mallon. The subject of the film is commercial fishing on the Great Slave Lake, and features Clifford Bird, Johnny Nault, and Total Mayo. "Dene Family" is a Goldi Productions Film from the Northern Lifestyle Series and was produced with the support of the NWT Dept. of Education and Canada Council Exploration. The film depicts the lifestyle of the Marlowe family of Snowdrift.

They Fish the Great Slave

Dene Family

This film follows the life of the Marlowe family (George, Celine, Elizabeth, Eileen, Agatha, Bernice and James) of Snowdrift, Northwest Territories. The film begins by following the children to school, then moving to George and Celine as they work to build a new home. Also documents other aspects of the family's lifestyle, including cooking, berry picking, fishing, and beading. Produced by Goldi Productions Ltd. With support from the Government of the Northwest Territories Department of Education, Culture and Employment and Canada Council Exploration as part of the Northern Lifestyles Series.
